HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 141-11 PAGIS License Plate RecogRESOLUTION NO. 141 - 11 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ***~***** AUTHORIZING STAFF TO PURCHASE PAGIS LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITIOfV SYSTEM FROM PIPS TECHNOLOGY WHEREAS, the City requires the purchase of a license plate recognition system for Dublin Police Services operations; and WHEREAS, in the Fiscal Year 2011/2012 Federal Asset Seizure Fund Budget funding is included for the purchase of a license plate recognition system; and WHEREAS, Section 2.36.050(A)(2) of the Dublin Municipal Code allows for exceptions to the typical public bidding process when the city's requirements can be met solely by a single patented article or process; and WHEREAS, Alameda County Sheriff's Office purchased a License Plate Recognition System (PAGIS) and maintains a server to store data collected from PAGIS, the use of which has been offered to Dublin Police Services to conduct license plate recognition activities; and WHEREAS, a PAGIS system must be used to connect successfully with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office server; and WHEREAS, PIPS Technology is the sole retailer of PAGIS; and WHEREAS, the City Council authorizes the purchase of the License Plate Recognition System (PAGIS) from PIPS Technology, at a cost of $22,240, as provided for under Chapter 2.36 of the Dublin Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin hereby authorizes the City Manager to purchase of the License Plate Recognition System (PAGIS) from PIPS Technology.
