GITY OF DUBLIN
HERITAGE AND CULTURAI. ARTS COMMISSION
MINUTES OF: March 13, 2008
The March 13, 2008 meeting of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission was called to order at 7:05
p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center, Dublin, California, by Commissioner Mack, who was appointed by the
Commissioners in the absence of the Chair and Vice Chair.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Commissioner Mack led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Mack, Acuff, Lussie, Vonheeder-Leopold
Commissioners Absent: Swalwell, Carr, Halket
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
The Commissioners approved Commissioner Mack's role of Chairperson during the meeting due to the
absence of Chair Swalwell and Vice Chair Carr.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion by Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold; seconded by Cm. Acuff; and by a vote of 4-0-0 with Chair
Swalwell, Cm. Carr, and Cm. Halket absent; the Commission approved the minutes of January 10, 2008
as presented.
On a motion by Cm. Acuff; seconded by Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold; and by a vote of 4-0-0 with Chair
Swalwell, Cm. Carr, and Cm. Halket absent; the Commission approved the minutes of the February 14,
2008 Joint Commission meeting as presented.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
7.1 Dublin Fine Arts Foundation - Art Takes Place Update
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage & Cultural Arts Supervisor, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold informed the Commission that DFAF will be holding a public art dedication for
Bill Gould's artwork at Bray Commons Park and a reception for the Bus Obscura artist, Simon Lee; both
being held on April 19, 2008.
Mr. Hartnett explained that Dublin Pride Week activities would also include the Bus Obscura project.
Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold pointed out that the Bus Obscura project has been on worldwide exhibitions.

NEW BUSINESS
8.1 Winter Concert Series 2007-2008 Update
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage & Cultural Arts Supervisor, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Cm. Acuff stated that word-of-mouth is one of the contributors to the success of the Bay Bells concerts.
Cm. Lussie stated that Staff's Winter Concert attendance assessment and the subsequent suggestions from
the Commission were important and should be done regularly. She commended the Commission on the
suggestions provided to Staff.
Mr. Hartnett stated that shortly after the direction from the Commission, Staff also began an e-mail list
and has received a large quantity of e-mail addresses from various event attendees. He stated that Staff
uses the e-mail addresses to inform past attendees of future events.
The Commissioners gave various ideas for different types of events that included: theatrical plays; Jazz
concerts; bagpipe, violin, and flute performances; Indonesian shadow puppets; Tyco drums and Lion
dancing; and the Western Arts Performers.
