The April 10, 2008 meeting of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission was called to order at 7:05
p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center, Dublin, California, by Chair Swalwell.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Swalwell led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Commissioners Present: Acuff, Carr, Lussie, Mack, Swalwell, Vonheeder-Leopold
Commissioners Absent: Halket
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion by Cm. Acuff, seconded by Cm. Lussie, and by a vote of 4-0-3, with Chair Swalwell and
Cm. Carr abstaining due to their absence during the March 13, 2008 meeting, and with Cm. Halket absent,
the Commission approved the minutes of March 13, 2008 as presented.

NEW BUSINESS
8.1 Winter 2008 Quarterly Report
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage & Cultural Arts Supervisor, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Cm. Mack asked about the Introduction to Genealogy/Family History class. Ms. Elizabeth Isles, Heritage
Center Director, described the specifics of the class.
8.2 Collections Management Policy and Procedures - Acceptance of Kolb Family
Collections
Ms. Elizabeth Isles, Heritage Center Director, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff
Report.
Cm. Lussie asked if copies of the photos would be available for display, and Ms. Isles said yes.
Cm. Lussie asked about the name change from Dublin Heritage Center Museum to Dublin Heritage
Center. Ms. Isles explained that the new name captures the many collections the Center houses.

On a motion by Cm. Lussie, seconded by Cm. Acuff, and by a vote of 6-0-0, with Cm. Halket absent, and
with an amendment to remove the mention of "except for one built-in cabinet" from the description of
items in Bill's Bedroom on page 19, the Commission voted to recommend to City Council approval of
revisions to the Dublin Heritage Center Collections Management Policy and Procedures.
OTHER BUSINESS
9.1 Brief INFORMATIONAL ONLY Reports from Heritage and Cultural Arts
Commissioners and/or Staff
Cm. Lussie reported that the Alameda County Library Foundation is having a gala at the Dublin Library
on June 13, 2008.
Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold recommended the website www.californialearn.org as an interesting and
informative website. She shared advertising postcards for the Bus Obscura event during the week of April
19, 2008.
Cm. Carr reported that the various Student Art pieces from the Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club Student
Art Contest were on display at the Dublin Heritage Center. She also reported that the Student Art Award
Reception would be held this coming Sunday in San Ramon.
Cm. Mack reported that the art dedication for Bray Commons would be held next Saturday.
Chair Swalwell reported on his recent trip to Carmel, CA.
Mr. John Hartnett reported on the upcoming Summer Concert Series.
Ms. Elizabeth Isles reported that the Cowboy Workshop would be held May 3, 2008, and the Ice Cream
Social would be held on June 7, 2008.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
