Mayor’s Appointments to Senior Center Advisory Committee Unscheduled
Alternate Vacancies

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider the Mayor’s appointment s to fill unscheduled alternate vacancies
on the Senior Center Advisory Committee.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Confirm the Mayor’s appointments of Celia Ngan and Shazia Nomani to the unscheduled
alternate vacancies on the Senior Center Advisory Committee with terms ending December
2026.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
DESCRIPTION:
Two unscheduled alternate vacancies occurred on the Senior Center Advisory Committee after
the appointments of both alternates to member positions on June 2, 2026. A notice was posted
on June 3, 2026.
Mayor Hu reviewed the remaining applications received in the prior recruitment for vacancies
on the Senior Center Advisory Committee. The applications were from Zakariyya Ahmad,
Amber Ma, Celia Ngan, Shazia Nomani, Leishadharini Sattiamoorthy, and Haris Shahab. After
reviewing the applications, Mayor Hu has appointed Celia Ngan and Shazia Nomani to the
unscheduled alternate vacancies on the Senior Center Advisory Committee with terms ending
December 2026. Mayor Hu requests that the City Council confirm these appointments.
