America 250th Marker Dedication Day Proclamation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider a proclamation for the America 250th Marker Dedication Day.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the proclamation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
DESCRIPTION:
The City of Dublin has been selected by the Mount Diablo and Jose Maria Amador Chapters of
the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution to receive a bronze plaque that
commemorates the patriots of the American Revolutionary War and celebrates America’s
250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The plaque will be
installed at Don Biddle Park near the “Crossroads” Veterans Memorial.
This proclamation will be presented at the plaque’s dedication ceremony scheduled for May
30, 2026.

A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA
“America 250th Marker Dedication Day”
WHEREAS, on July 4, 2026 our nation will commemorate the semiquincentennial anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence; and
WHEREAS, the journey towards this historic milestone is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and
look ahead to the future generations who will carry forward the ideals of democracy and individual liberty that mak e the United States a unique nation
in the world community; and
WHEREAS, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a nonpolitical women’s service organization, established in 1890,
whose members are lineally descended from Patriots of the American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, from the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 2023 until the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 2033, DAR
is celebrating our nation’s rich history and diversity of experience by honoring all men and women who helped achieve American independence. These
Patriots, believing in the noble cause of liberty, fought valiantly to establish a new nation; and
WHEREAS, the California Daughters of the Mount Diablo and Jose Maria Amador Chapters are dedicating a marker at Don Biddle Community Park
to celebrate this unique milestone in our history.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby proclaim May 30, 2026 as America 250th Marker
Dedication Day in the City of Dublin and encourages all residents to recognize this marker as a source of community pride and a permanent symbol of
our enduring American spirit.
