STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Present the proclamation. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: Affordable Housing Month is an annual observance in May dedicated to raising awareness, celebrating progress, and driving action to address housing affordability challenges and to educate the community on how affordable housing benefits us all. Stable and affordable homes are vital to healthy, safe, vibrant and diverse communities. On the heels of issuing this proclamation, this year the City of Dublin is working with the cities of Pleasanton and Livermore to offer affordable housing resources at the first annual Tri-Valley Affordable Housing Fair scheduled on May 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Wave Community Room. ATTACHMENTS: 1) Affordable Housing Month Proclamation 11 Attachment 1 A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA “Affordable Housing Month” WHEREAS, May is recognized as Affordable Housing Month across the Bay Area in joint acknowledgement of the coordinated, regional work necessary to ensure that everyone has an affordable and stable home; and WHEREAS, quality affordable homes are vital to healthy, safe, and vibrant and diverse communities; and WHEREAS, stable affordable homes are part of the solution to homelessness, and support seniors, families, youth, veterans, people with disabilities or special needs, and our whole community; and WHEREAS, the rising cost of housing threatens our regions’ diversity and economic prosperity; and WHEREAS, the role of local governments and non-profit organizations are critical in maintaining support for producing, preserving, and protecting affordable housing opportunities for low-income communities.; and WHEREAS, after 42 years East Bay Housing Organizations continues to champion affordable housing in the East Bay and will feature events acknowledging the need for and benefits of affordable housing; and WHEREAS, local jurisdictions like the City of Dublin can play an important role by supporting investments in affordable housing. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby proclaim May as Affordable Housing Month in the City of Dublin and works to support affordable and stable housing at the local, regional, state, and federal levels.
