HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Reso 86-079 PA 86-129 Sign Ordinance Amendment r� RESOLUTION NO. 86 - 079 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN RECOMMENDING ADOPTION OF PA 86-129 SIGN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT WHEREAS, on May 12, 1986, the Dublin City Council adopted the City's Revised Sign Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City Ordinance prohibits more than one Freestanding Sign per parcel; and WHEREAS, on November 24, 1986, the City Council directed the Planning Commission to consider amending the Zoning Ordinance to allow two Freestanding Signs on larger parcels with two or more frontages; and WHEREAS, during the initial six month implementation period of the revised Sign Ordinance Staff identified several areas in the Ordinance requiring clarification; and WHEREAS, a draft Ordinance amending the City's Zoning Ordinance regarding Special Easement Signs, the location and number of permitted Freestanding Signs, Service Station Display and Price Signs, Identification Signs, Low Profile Signs, Time/Temperature Sign and Electronic Readerboard Signs, Shopping Center Master Identification Signs, and reformatting sections of the Ordinance has been prepared; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on said draft Ordinance on December 15, 1986; and WHEREAS, notice of said public hearing was provided in all respects as required by law; and WHEREAS, said draft Ordinance has been reviewed in accordance with the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act and a Negative Declaration of Environmental Significance has been prepared for this project as it will not have a significant effect on the environment; and WHEREAS, a Staff Report was submitted regarding said draft Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did hear and consider all said reports, recommendations, and testimony as hereinabove set forth; and WHEREAS, it is the Planning Commission consensus that: 1) There should not be a proliferation of signs on the street. 2) There should not be a row of signs visible from the freeway. 3) The Ordinance provisions for Wall Signage and one Freestanding Sign per parcel are adequate. 4) The Council proposed Lodging Signs on the City streets are adequate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Dublin Planning Commission does hereby find that the draft Ordinance Amendments as modified by the Planning Commission are consistent with the stated purposes and objectives of the City's Sign Ordinance, and with the City's General Plan. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE Dublin Planning Commission does hereby recommend the City Council adopt the modified Sign Ordinance Amendments (Exhibit "B" PA 86-129). -1- PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of December, 1986.
