Please step to the podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted agenda. The Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked, or may request Staff to report back at a future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of the public may contact the Recording Secretary’s Office related to the proper procedure to place an item on a future Youth Advisory Committee agenda. The exceptions under which the Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the agenda are contained in Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3). 4. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Youth Advisory Committee with one single action. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: At its previous meetings, the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) appointed members to serve on Ad Hoc Committees to assist with the planning and development of key initiatives and events, including the 2025 Mental Health Forum, the Sister City partnership with Bray, Ireland’s Youth Advisory Committee, and KidVenture Night. The purpose of these Ad Hoc Committees is to research, plan, and provide recommendations to the YAC to support the successful implementation of these programs. The updates provided will highlight progress to date, upcoming tasks, and next steps for ea ch initiative. As part of the 2025–26 YAC Work Plan, members were appointed to serve on Ad Hoc Committees to support key initiatives. These include: 10 Page 2 of 2  Work Plan Goal #1 – Explore a Collaborative Virtual Event with Bray, Ireland’s Youth Advisory Committee: The Ad Hoc Committee will begin discussions with Bray’s Youth Advisory Committee to explore the concept of a joint virtual event. The goal is to promote cultural exchange, strengthen the Sister City relationship, and engage youth in both communities.  Work Plan Goal #2 – Youth Mental Health Forum: The Ad Hoc Committee is tasked with planning and implementing a youth-focused forum featuring school counselors and local therapists. The event will provide Dublin youth with resources, coping strategies, and opportunities to discuss mental health challenges and support systems.  Work Plan Goal #3 – KidVenture Night: The Ad Hoc Committee will continue to develop KidVenture Night, an interactive evening for elementary school-aged youth. The event encourages creativity, recreation, and social connection through activities led by Committee members. STRATEGIC PLAN INITIATIVE: None. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Review and discuss the Youth Mini-Grant Program and Rating Sheet. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The City of Dublin Youth Mini-Grant Program is supported by the General Fund in the amount of $10,000 for Fiscal Year 2025-26. DESCRIPTION: At the August 13, 2025, meeting, the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) discussed goals for the 2025-26 work plan, including implementation of the Youth Mini-Grant program. Youth Mini- Grants are provided to Dublin-based youth organizations/clubs and programs that provide performing arts, multicultural awareness, and other yout h-related activities. The Youth Mini-Grant program was established in Fiscal Year 2012-13 to support youth organizations that offer programs for middle and high school students not offered by the Parks and Community Services Department. Funding is recomme nded annually by the YAC and awarded by the City Council to organizations and clubs that best meet the needs of Dublin youth. The program and associated work plan are outlined below: Youth Mini-Grant Program The program is administered by the YAC and includes the following activities that all members participate in.  Assist with program advertising at Dublin Unified School District (DUSD) high and middle schools, Quarry Lane School, Valley Christian Schools, and Dublin-based youth 12 Page 2 of 2 organizations.  Review applications and receive presentations at a regularly scheduled YAC meeting and make a recommendation on funding amounts using the Mini-Grant Rating Form (Attachment 1).  Present mini-grant recipient recommendations to the City of Dublin Parks and Community Services Commission meeting and then forward to City Council for approval. Upon City Council approval, awarded grantees will be notified of their success and the award amount. Following the completion of projects, grant recipients will have two weeks to complete a brief project report to describe how the funds were used and how many young people were impacted. Grantees are encouraged to provide photos, testimonials, and flyers to promote and describe their projects successes. Only those who submit a project report in a timely manner may be considered for future Youth Mini-Grants. STRATEGIC PLAN INITIATIVE: None.
