EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will receive a report on an upcoming event at Don Biddle Community Park,
planned in collaboration with Camp Parks, to celebrate the United States Army's 250th Birthday.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the report.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
City costs are estimated at $50,000, which can be covered within the existing budget for Fiscal
Year 2024-25.
DESCRIPTION:
The United States Army, one of America's oldest institutions, will celebrate its 250th Birthday on
June 14, 2025. Over the last month, Staff has been collaborating with Parks Reserve Forces
Training Area (Camp Parks) on an event to commemorate this milestone and recognize the
significant role that Camp Parks has played in Dublin's history, as well as its ongoing partnership
with the City. The event will honor the service and sacrifice of those who have served in the Army,
celebrate its rich history and traditions, foster a sense of community and camaraderie, and
encourage public engagement.
The celebration will be held on Saturday, June 14 at Don Biddle Community Park from 10:00 a.m.
to 3:00 p.m., and will be open and free to the public. The event will feature ceremonial and
historical elements, including the presentation of colors, the cutting of cake, drill team exercises,
displays of period -appropriate uniforms, and the presence of historical vehicles. The 191st Army
Band will provide live entertainment throughout the day while fife and drum performers will

roam the park.
Camp Parks will provide family -friendly activities such as a rock wall, marching demonstrations,
and static displays. Additionally, carnival games, face painting, and bounce houses will be offered
to bring fun and educational experiences for attendees of all ages. Informational booths will also
be available through partnerships between Camp Parks and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW),
United States Automobile Association (USAA), and local military -friendly businesses. Food and
beverage vendors will also be on site.
The City will provide the event infrastructure, sound, advertising, and supplies, as summarized in
the below table.
