STAFF RECOMMENDATION:Recommend one name for City Council consideration. FINANCIAL IMPACT:None. DESCRIPTION:The Jordan Ranch Neighborhood Square is located on Central Parkway in the Jordan Ranch Development. It is 2 acres in size and has a park design theme entitled “The Forest.” After soliciting public input through surveys and public meetings, Staff presented the conceptual plans for the square to the Parks & Community Services Commission on October 17, 2022. City Council approved the Commission’s preferred conceptual design on December 6, 2022.The square will include a multi-use sports court, a pollinator garden, picnic areas, a nature playground, and fitness stations. The City’s Park Naming policy allows for public input on name suggestions, after which the top-ranked names are presented to the Parks & Community Services Commission for consideration and recommendation to the City Council. An online survey was used to solicit input from the public for potential names for the park. The survey was available for approximately three weeks, from February 7 to February 28, 2024, and advertised on the City’s website, newsflash features, and social media. A total of 131 persons responded to the survey. The survey included an image of 10 Page 2 of 2 the conceptual theme and design and a list of the park amenities. Respondents chose from a list of suggested names and could write in additional name suggestions. As a general guideline, names for the park should reflect the following considerations: Geographic location and characteristics Landscaping, topography, natural features Design amenities or features Historical significance Recognition of a significant contributor to the advancement of the City Land or area is traditionally known as... Adjoining neighborhood, area, or streetThe following table displays the outcome of the survey based on the provided park names:TABLE 1: JORDAN RANCH SQUARE PARK NAMING SURVEY RESULTSPark Name Response Percent Response CountCentral Forest Park (Central Parkway is a cross street bordering the square and the design theme is “The Forest”)44.3%58 Pandora Square (Pandora Way is a cross street bordering the square)23.7%31Wicklow Park (county in Ireland)17.6%23Pandora Woods Park (Pandora Way is a cross street bordering the square)14.5%19100%131Construction documents for the park are near completion, with a tentative park opening scheduled in the summer of 2025.
